From Idea to Running System: Digital Mobility Platform for WE Tower
End-to-end mobile and backend development for a novel vertical parking system in Berlin
For the Berlin-based startup WE Tower, we have been developing a complete digital mobility platform since October 2022 – from the mobile app to the backend to the on-site terminal. A solution comprising five components in five languages, running in 24/7 operation since July 2025.
Starting Point and Task
WE Tower develops vertical parking systems that can park and charge up to 30 vehicles in the smallest of spaces. The first tower in Berlin-Spandau was hardware-ready – but without software integration. No backend, no app, no user management, no payment processing.
At the same time, the product was new. Requirements evolved with the project – a classic case for a partner who doesn't just execute, but thinks along.
We developed the entire digital infrastructure from scratch: from the user app to the tower control system, from the initial concept to ongoing operations – pioneering work in a yet-to-be-defined product space.
What Was Built
Mobile App (iOS & Android)
The WE Tower app enables reservations, parking in and out, and push notifications. Developed with React Native/ Expo from a shared codebase, localized in five languages – including Arabic with full RTL support – and designed to accessibility standards. Available on the App Store and Google Play.
Backend
The backend processes reservations, user management, and payments, communicates in real-time with the towers, and was designed from the start for multi-site operation. Stack: ASP.NET Core, C#, Entity Framework, Azure SQL Database, Auth0, Stripe.
Operating Box App
The on-site terminal at the tower: a native Android app that communicates directly with the tower control via Modbus TCP and runs 24/7 unattended – in kiosk mode, multilingual, including RTL.
Admin Dashboard
Real-time monitoring, booking overview, and user management for all sites – and simultaneously the central diagnostic tool for support cases.
PLC Emulator
Since the physical hardware was not always available, we built a complete software emulator of the tower control. This enabled reliable testing independent of the device.
Website
The product website we-tower.com – built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, hosted on Vercel.
What Challenged Us Most
The tower's control technology was based on a specialized Modbus TCP interface – undocumented, not designed for external integration. We reverse-engineered it through traffic analysis and systematic testing, and documented it ourselves. This was not a standard task – and exactly what we stand for: finding technical solutions even when there is no predefined path.
The Result
All components are in productive use. The app is available in both app stores. The system has been running stable in 24/7 operation since July 2025. The architecture is prepared for additional locations in Germany and internationally.
"mtc understood our idea from the very beginning – not just technically, but also where we wanted to go. They thought along when our plans changed and built a solution that can grow with us."Burhan Aykut, Founder WE Tower GmbH
