Sitecore Development

Task

In 2016, we were asked by a partner company whether we could support a large project. A heavily outdated content management system of a website known throughout Germany was to be completely renewed. The tasks consisted of developing a new, functionally strongly expanded website based on Sitecore 8, today 9.3, and introducing it jointly throughout the entire company with all specialist departments and partner companies.

Solution

We were able to contribute our experience with a managed team of four Sitecore developers as part of the much larger project. A textbook Scrum-based project management was established by the client, where we developed user stories from the requirements of the management and business departments. After their release we did the complete implementation from backlog refinement, planning, development, review and rollout of the new versions.

In development we developed using ASP.net, TypeScript, TerrificJS on Azure Cloud, used Selenium for automated testing and we worked with GlassMapper, Sitecore ORM (Object Relation Mapping) which can connect data elements with objects in program code.

The newly developed website has given the client a new face on the web. The Sitecore platform allows for fully component-based development of sites that can be extended through editors without further development effort.

Result

Our developers are sought-after and valued sparring partners in the design of the entire digital landscape and also assist with bug fixing, support and maintenance. They have independently supported the implementation of this large project within the given framework and environment of customers and partners.

We are particularly proud of the complex forms that we were able to elegantly implement and that efficiently handle the sale of insurance and membership.

The component-based structure, which was still a conceptual and technical challenge at the beginning of the project, simplifies the further development and maintenance of large web applications in particular.
